Early this morning, October 9th, a helicopter crashed shortly after taking off from an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico. Early reports suggest the crash killed the pilot and injured two of the three passengers. An offshore supply vessel took all four from the water and radioed the Coast Guard, which evacuated the two injured passengers to LSU Medical Center in New Orleans.
